Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Unblockable?

In this year’s NFL Draft, with the 32nd overall pick, the last pick of the first round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Every single Bucs fan knows that by now. Tryon-Shoyinka was a star defensive end from the University of Washington.

The great thing about Tryon-Shoyinka being a Buc is that he can play this season without much pressure at all because he doesn’t have to start every single week.

Unless you’re a fan of the Huskies (UW) and watch them play every week, we Bucs fans have yet to see Tryon-Shoyinka’s on the field product in a live game setting because one; the season hasn’t started yet obviously, and two, Washington hasn’t had very many prime time games recently. All we have been able to see so far are his highlight tapes from college. For our fellow Bucs fans who have been fortunate enough to watch practice, they have seen him putting in the work in camp.

Speaking of the Bucs camp, Tryon-Shoyinka has received high praise from Bruce Arians about how well he has looked in practice. When talking about how Joe Tryon-Shoyinka is progressing, Bruce Arians said,

“Somebody’s got to block him. We turned him loose a couple of times. We’re doing a good job with a couple personnel groups getting him free. It’s doing a better job of communication on how to block him, but when we try to block him, he’s hard to block.”

Think of how good the Bucs defense was last year, and then imagine throwing Tryon-Shoyinka into the mix in certain packages to help get after the quarterback! The Dallas Cowboys are in for a nightmare in week 1! Their offensive staff is going to have fits trying to figure out how to block everybody, but somebody is going to get free for a big shot on Dak Prescott!
