According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Bucs second-year receiver out of Minnesota, Tyler Johnson, is working on getting back into shape.

Tyler Johnson, who showed plenty of promise last season and had a big day at practice on Tuesday, is working on getting back into shape as he looks to build the trust of quarterback Tom Brady.

During head coach Bruce Arians’ press conference on Tuesday, he admitted that the second-year pro is dealing with weight issues. Arians stated: “Tyler Johnson came back a little heavy, and he’s getting back in shape, which is his own fault.”

TYLER JOHNSON EVEN AGREES

Johnson, who was listed as 6’1, 206 pounds last season, stated: “Coach B.A. is definitely right.” He went on to say, I’m not where I want to be at yet, but I’ve been doing a lot of things just to get back into shape, and it was my own fault for not coming in how I wanted to be. But I’ve learned from it, so I’ve done a lot of things to get back to myself, but I’m feeling good, feeling better. My goal is to get 1 percent better every day, and I’m moving in that direction.”

WEIGHT ASIDE, JOHNSON COULD HAVE A BIG SEASON.

Johnson, who had a big rookie season, looks for it to continue in year 2 —the rookie, who some people stated: “Could never earn Tom Brady’s trust because he doesn’t like rookie receivers.”

THE 2020 SEASON DETERMINED THAT WAS A LIE!

Johnson finished the regular season with 12 catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He made his presence felt during the NFC Division playoff round against the New Orleans Saints as he showed his acrobatic ability during a critical third-down pass from quarterback Tom Brady.

“If you stay ready, you never got to get ready,” Johnson said. Just to be able to have him trust me. After the game, I went up and told him, ‘I appreciate you trusting me. I wanted to make this play.'”

Johnson also said that he doesn’t stop him from wanting to earn the trust of everyone in the building, “I want them to be able to trust me with anything, knowing I can get the job done.”

Can Johnson continue to earn Tom Brady’s trust? Is he over his Super Bowl hangover? How do you feel Johnson will fair in his second season?
