Shaq Barrett came up big in his home coming to Denver last week, recording 6 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 3 hits on the QB, and a safety on top. His performance won him the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award. He had won this award only once before and also did it as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. Shaq previously took home the honor for his week 2 performance 3 sacks, 3 tackles, and 7 hits on the QB against the Panthers in 2019.

After winning the honor in week 2 of last season, he went on to have a season many defensive players can only dream about. He followed up his NFC Defensive Player of the Week performance with 4 sacks, 8 tackles, and 8 hits on the QB finishing the season with franchise record of 19.5 sacks, just 3.5 sacks shy of breaking the NFL single season sack record set by Michael Strahan in 2001.
