ESPN Analytics released their Pass-Block and Pass-Rush Win Rate rankings, and the Bucs and some players found their way on that list. The Bucs rank 3rd in Team Pass-Rush Win Rate with 53%.
Second-year player Ali Marpet is the sole representative for the offensive-line ranking 6th in winning his battles holding off the pass-rush with a 96% Win Rate among offensive guards.
Two players have contributed tremendously to the reason the Bucs are 3rd, as Shaq Barrett and Vita Vea both notched the Top-10 respectively.
Barrett’s 52% has landed him in the Top-5 amongst OLB/DE, and his 15.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles are a result of that. The 6th year player has never seen more than 5.5 sacks in a season (as a member of the Broncos 2015 Super Bowl-winning run).
Vea is ranked 7th as the second-year defensive-tackle is beating 15% of his blocks. As low as the percentage is, mind you that he and Ndamukong Suh demand tremendous amounts of attention, which have opened the door for Barrett, JPP, and others to make the big play. Vea still has 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks within the defensive chaos created this season.
