What Did We Learn in Atlanta on Sunday?

There is a lot of young talent in the Buccaneer secondary and that the pass rush on occasions can be really effective, which, of course, makes the two go hand-in-hand. The last two defensive first-round picks, Vita Vea and Devin White, look excellent selections at this stage, and there is some reason for optimism on that side of the ball.

Staying with the positive, it was Chris Godwin’s turn to post Madden-like numbers this week as he made one big catch after another with Mike Evans playing the supporting role as both players reached 1,000-yards on the season.

O.J. Howard was once again a forgotten man, and the Bucs desperately need an Adam Humphries-type third receiver to truly open up the offense. I remain totally unconvinced Jameis Winston can be a long-term successful NFL quarterback, but that one has been done to death now.

Also into the really bad box, you can throw the entire Atlanta Falcons’ team and Dick Stockton. With the only two coaches to post winning seasons in Tampa in the past decade on their staff (Raheem and Dirk), they could both be looking for pastures anew in 2020, when Dan Quinn is taken off the hot seat permanently. The Stockton-Schlereth commentary crew for Fox remains an embarrassment. They both need to be retired and soon.  -Paul Stewart of Bucpower.com
