Riddle’s Rundown: Suh Needs to Step it Up!

The Bucs have the best defense against the run in the league by far, but sit dead last in pass defense. Part of the reason for that is they just don’t get enough pressure on the QB ranked 24th overall with just 16 sacks.

The Bucs signed Suh to be their DE in Todd Bowles 3-4 scheme, which requires him to be effective in the pass rush as well as play the run. So far, Suh has played the run very well, but his impact as a pass rusher has been nonexistent.

After 7 games, he’s only managed .5 a sack, just 14 tackles, and only 5 QB hits. If this were Gerald McCoy with only .5 sacks and 5 QB hits in 7 games, the fans would be calling for his head.

Suh is going to need to step up; he’s on pace for just 1 sack. Someone at his position should at least be putting up 4 or 5 sacks in a season, as he is playing a one-gap defense scheme.
