It’s just a game
Reports have gone viral in regards to rookie kicker Matt Gay having death threats over his performance on Sunday, or fans wishing to seem him dead. Yeah, it actually happened.
Lack of class
First off, this is solely a game and fans need to remember that. Yes, we’re all upset over the loss and the missed kick; but at the end of the day, it’s a game.
For fans to be threatening a player, and such player needing an escort just to get to their vehicle is absurd and shows very little class by the fan base. Yes, he should’ve made those kicks, but threatening a life over something so small is completely stupid.
If the shoe fits….
From the bottom of my heart, this goes out to every Buc fan that is showing this “low class” mentality. Everyone needs to remember, these guys aren’t just football players, but human beings as well. People have off days, sometimes things just don’t go as planned. It’s not like Gay walked on the field and said, “let me push this kick to the right” or “let me kick this ball off of so and so fingers”
So the next time you see Gay out and about or coming to/leaving the stadium, compliment the guy. Let him know no matter the outcome; you still support him, because, at the end of the day, he’s still a human being first and a Bucs player second. If this article sums you up, maybe you need to step away from the game for a bit and remember why you’re a Bucs fan. – Johnny Bowers
