This weeks match-up boasts the New York football Giants (0-2) vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1) in week 3 action. This week’s headlines though have mostly been about the benching of Eli Manning for rookie 6th overall pick Daniel Jones.

Experts have talked all week about the kid, but all still have chosen your Bucs to win by a spread of 6.5 points even after the news of Jones starting over Eli.

Will history repeat itself?

As noted previously, everyone is choosing the Bucs to defeat Big Blue this Sunday. The Giants are 6-1 in their last 7 games against the Bucs.

But, 2019 seems to be a very different year for both teams. New York is averaging 15.5 PPG (tied for 26th in the NFL) while Tampa Bay is averaging 18.5 PPG (tied for 21st).

Defensive wise, the Giants are allowing 31.5 PPG (T-30th) while Tampa Bay is allowing 22.5 PPG (18th).

But again, Tampa Bay has been very friendly against rookies QB’s in the past. Daniel Jones isn’t a quarterback to sleep on, especially when you have Barkley behind you. But, can they change that under new coordinator Todd Bowles and his stingy 3-4?

The time is now

This is the last home game for 49-days for the Bucs before their road-trip. A win at home would be great in building the confidence for a team who could easily be 2-0 (had Jameis not surrendered 2 pick-sixes) or even 0-2 (had they had not stopped McCaffrey on 4th down at the end of the game). Coach Arians has preached one day at a time, one game at a time, so it’ll be interesting to see how things shape out in Tampa.
