It’s 2019, the Bucs have had some coaching changes and some defensive changes since they last took the field in a regular-season game; that’s the only noticeable change, and possibly the only positive outcome in their 31-17 loss on Sunday to the 49ers.
First things first
Let’s start off with congratulations to Vernon Hargreaves III for scoring the first Bucs touchdown of the season on a pick-six. That’s definitely something we’re not used to hearing.
Devin White 1st NFL game
As for our 5th overall pick, he looked good for a guy who just had [and probably still does] the flu. In his first NFL live game, he managed 6 tackles(1 that came maybe 2 feet from being a safety). Though some expect some sort of miracle on grass, he looked good considering only Jordan Whitehead(8 tackles) and Lavonte David(7 tackles, 1 TFL) were ahead of him in tackles.
–Other defensive notes: Carlton Davis recorded the Bucs 1st fumble recovery of the season, and Shaq Barrett recorded the only sack for the Bucs
Overall, the Bucs only gave up 256 total offensive yards(158 passing and 98 rushing) while allowing the 49ers to go 5-for-13 on 3rd downs, and only allowing 16 points. When it comes to Bucs football, it’s nice to hear [and speak] about our defense in a positive manner.
Can they keep it going? Well, luckily we only have to wait until Thursday to find out, as they travel to Carolina to take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers in a Thursday night prime time event.
