Head Coach Bruce Arians is very excited about the potential of this Buccaneers defense and especially of that of the linebackers.
When I say linebackers most immediately think of Lavonte David and Devin White. Of course, David is great all the time and expectations of White are through the roof and out of this atmosphere, but Arians was speaking about Noah Spence, Shaq Barret, and Carl Nassib.
When it comes to the Blitz, Tampa is going to bring the kitchen sink, and that’s something we haven’t seen here in a long time. There is much to be excited for as we have had many players that have not lived up to their true potential, and if it anyone can get that from a player, it’s Bruce Arians. We may finally get to see the Noah Spence we all know he can be, which will be a sigh of relief for me personally, as I’ve had my eye on him since Ohio State.
Arians went on to say that the traditional four-man pass rush, in Tampa, is now a thing of the past, and I am ready for the change! If things go according to plan, we may just bear witness to another addition great Tampa Defense. One can only dream!
“I think outside linebacker Shaq Barret is going to be outstanding. I think all those guys, Carl Nassib, Noah – he has flourished in what his role is now. I’m anxious to see him rush the passer in pads, because he was very effective in shorts. I think the interior guys are excellent blitzers. I think here in Tampa, you traditionally only think of four-man line pass rush. That’s not who we are. It’s been here for a long time, but it’s not that way anymore.”
