Kyle Riddle’s Rundown: Terry Beckner Looking To Make The Cut

1 min read

One thing about 7th round picks is that more often than not don’t make the final cut, but don’t tell that to Terry Beckner. The Bucs took Beckner in the 7th round this year out of Missouri and even though he didn’t light it up at the combine running just a 5.19 FYD and a 24.5 verticals leap, he has looked good so far in minicamp. Here’s what Bucs staff writer Carmen Vitality had to say:

“He plays with a lot of fire, and his coaches have had great things to say about how hungry he is. Now that the playbook is starting to sink in, he got back to his inherent ball awareness, and he is able to get his hands on passes and break them up.”

At 6’3 and 296lbs Beckner would most likely play DE in defensive coordinator Todd Bowles 3-4 defense, rather than DT which he played while in college. Even though he’s not the greatest athlete, he is a great football player. Beckner has a very good swim move and shows great awareness when he’s on the field. It will be very interesting to see how he handles things once the pads come on.
