Buccaneers Sign New DT

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have added a new defensive tackle to their arsenal. Tampa signed defensive line journeyman Nick Thurman. In college Thurman played just about every position on the defensive line for the Houston Cougars. During his four seasons (2014-2017) with the Cougars, he recorded 50 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 4 pass defends, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.
He was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent and attended their camp, but only seen preseason action with the team. It’s likely that Thurman was brought here to compete with the other lineman in an attempt from Arians to bring out the best in everyone.
Many fans will call him just a camp body or camp meat and that very well may be the case. However, I see it as Arians and company beginning to dot the I’s and cross the T’s with roster depth.
