Contract Gangrene!
1 min read
Whilst Brits are well known for not panicking, I am the exception to this rule.
Right now the Buccaneers have a little over $1.7Million in available space. By the time the draft arrives, in 3 short weeks, the Bucs need around $10Million in space. For those that saw the latest BritBuc Invasion, will recall that I covered the recent cap struggles.
Currently, the top ten players occupy over $120 million of the cap. In fact, your favourite Buccaneer is probably on this list!
Allow me to change the topic to provide some perspective. A person injures their leg, Gangrene sets in. That person is faced with the reality that they will probably lose that leg. No matter how much they like it. This is necessary to save the person’s life.
Right now those contracts are Gangrene and need to be cut out. This is to save the life of the Bucs salary cap. Regardless of that, some big names occupy the list of unaffordable contracts, they need to be cut away.
Take your choice from:
Jameis Winston
Mike Evans
JPP
Gerald McCoy
Donovan Smith
Ali Marpet
Ryan Jensen
Lavonte David
Cameron Brate
Demar Dotson
Take a long look at those names because one of those players will be gone before the draft. This isn’t performance related. This is just business.
