Donovan Smith To Be Franchise Tagged By Tomorrow
1 min read
Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times recently Tweeted that the Buccaneers will place the franchise tag on their LT Donovan Smith by the deadline tomorrow. However, contract extensions are in the works, so if they do not tag him by the deadline Tuesday afternoon on March the 5th, then that is an indication that both sides have agreed to terms.
It’s highly doubtful that Bucs allow Smith to test the free agency barring any unforeseen circumstances as he would likely be picked immediately by another team.
#Bucs will place the franchise tag on LT Donovan Smith by the March 5 deadline but talks are going well on an extension and they could still do a deal at a later date.

Donovan Smith was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft as protection for #1 overall QB Jameis Winston. Smith has started and played in every game since coming into the league.
