Bucs Life

Bringing You The Best News

Howard Will Become a Top 5 TE

1 min read

Scouts called OJ Howard the best TE prospect in 10-years, so when the 19th pick came, and Howard was still on the board, Tampa jumped at the chance to draft the star TE out of Alabama. Sure the Bucs could have used a CB or a safety, but Howard’s talent was something that couldn’t be passed up.

Howard is a rare breed. He is able to block and is more than capable as a pass catcher. At 6’5 250 Howard is extremely athletic, running 4.51 in the 40, that is blazing for a guy that size, and once he has the ball, he’s extremely tough to bring down. His height makes him a dangerous target and a real threat in the end zone.

Last season, Howard played in 10 games before being bitten by the injury bug, and we got a glimpse of what to look forward to next season. He grabbed 35 passes for 565-yards and 5 TDs in those 10 games. 2019 is Howard’s chance to take his play to the next level he, and he definitely has the skill set to dominate.
