Defense Wins Games

Defense wins games. Not only that, but as the saying goes, defense wins championships. There are countless examples of this. When it comes to Tampa Bay, the Bucs had one of the top-ranked offenses in the NFL this year, in both passing yards and points. The proof is in the pudding; you can score a lot of points, but if your defense can’t stop the opposing team’s offense from scoring even more points, it doesn’t really matter how many points you score.

As I stated in one of my previous articles, the Bucs were 5-11 during the 2018-2019 season, but there were a lot of close games. There was only one game this year that you can say that the Bucs were truly blown out, week four at Chicago 48-10. Of the 10 other games that the Bucs lost, there were 2 games that the Bucs lost by a touchdown or less, 4 games by a field goal or less and 3 games by two touchdowns or less.

If the Tampa Bay defense can improve and to stop opposing offenses from scoring so many points, then the Bucs will have a real chance at winning more of those close games. Perhaps, they can even make it to the playoffs. Go Bucs!
