The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not put together a solid draft in quite some time. They whiffed when they didn’t select, the now Los Angeles Chargers standout, Derwin James. He would have been the perfect fit for Tampa Bay, but we chose to not select, the now Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate. The Buccaneers cannot afford to ignore the fact that we have a depleted secondary. They can’t ignore it anymore. There is really only one perfect selection for Tampa Bay this year with the 5th pick, and that is LSU cornerback Greedy Williams.
Williams would fit perfectly in the NFC South. He is exactly what the Bucs need to stop guys like Julio Jones and Michael Thomas. The NFC is loaded with talent on the outside, and the Bucs don’t have anyone to run with these receivers. Greedy Williams is a long, lean cornerback who could match-up with anyone. He is 6-3, 184 pounds and has the perfect combination of strength, speed, quickness, and agility. He is what we refer to as a difference maker. Greedy would immediately help the secondary, as an impact player. What Williams doesn’t possess in his physical stature, he more than makes up for in his sound coverage, and ability to break up passes.
Tampa, please don’t mess this one up. He is the obvious choice for us in the upcoming draft. There are fans that want to cut ties with quarterback Jameis Winston and draft the Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. In my opinion, that would be a colossal mistake. Jameis had his struggles, but he continues to get better. So, I’m betting that 2019 will be his coming out year. So, let’s hold off on drafting any quarterbacks high in the draft, and help this defense out. Greedy Williams is the answer for Tampa Bay in 2019.
