The Buccaneers selected WR Tyler Johnson with the 161st pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Johnson was drafted to beef up the wide receiver room that already had Mike Evans and Chris Godwin lighting up the league alongside Scotty Miller. Tyler Johnson came in and ended up being overshadowed by the signing of Antonio Brown last season. Below is what Byron Leftwich had to say about Johnson’s progression.

“I see it every day, so I see the improvements really every day. I think the things we really needed to work on throughout the offseason, throughout the beginning of the season, I think he’s done an excellent job at that. When he’s come in throughout the year, we’ve put him in certain situations, and he’s answered the call. That’s all I really know him to be, even when he was a rookie. A lot of big third down catches for us last year, a lot of big plays for us last year when he was in certain tough situations. He doesn’t shy away from the moment. He’s the guy that’s just been always waiting for his opportunity.”

Johnson has stepped up when needed so far in his career. He had a huge catch in the NFC Divisional Round against the New Orleans Saints and continues to make plays when called upon. In his career, Johnson has 279 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Expect Johnson to continue to grow this season and make plays when his number is called upon.
