Four Players To Keep An Eye On Sunday

After going 1-1 on their recent road trip, the 3-1 Bucs return home as the visiting Miami Dolphins are looking to get back on track after starting the season 1-3.

After a week three loss to the L.A. Rams, the Bucs rebounded in Week Four when Tom Brady returned to Foxborough to face his former team and managed to walk away with a win, but managed to lose a few more starters on defense as Carlton Davis III (quad) and Antoine Winfield Jr (concussion) both left Sunday’s game with injuries. Not to forget, the Bucs’ newest arrival, Richard Sherman, played after signing with the team just three days prior.

Bucs secondary will need to find a way to just keep the play in front of them

This Sunday’s task isn’t any easier for the Bucs. Regardless of the Dolphins’ record, they are a highly skilled team that can still take the top off you with their receivers. Although Miami will be without wideout Will Fuller, Sherman and Co. will still have to contain prolific pass catcher DeVante Parker, exceptional tight end Mike Geisicki, and rookie wideout, Jaylen Waddle, the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. This won’t be an easy task with the Bucs missing the top three corners out due to injury. This means players like Dee Delaney, Pierre Desir, and Ross Cockrell will have to step their game up, while Sherman will be in his 2nd game since being signed, hopefully with most of the playbook digested. Look for Sherman and Cockrell to both have big games.

Front seven needs to put pressure on Jacoby Brissett

If the Bucs are going to have success against the passing game, they’re going to need to get pressure on Brissett, as he is very capable of making plays happen. The Bucs are going to need a big day from the rookie Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. The defensive line is also going to be relied on heavily for pressure. Look for DT Rakeem Nunez-Roches to have another breakout performance.

The Bucs can take sole lead of possession in the NFC South standings with a victory and a Panthers loss. The Saints are close behind at 2-2 while the Falcons are at 1-3.
