Fan Feature: To the “House!”

One of the first players to influence me in pick up games when I was young was Kevin House! Number 89 was fast as can be, and he ran really good routes. When the Bucs needed the big play, quarterback Doug Williams looked to him often.

When I played sandlot football in my neighborhood and opposing neighborhoods, I felt unstoppable as a wide receiver, and most of the time, even the high school players couldn’t cover me! I would imagine myself as # 89 going deep and catching everything thrown my way! I watched him play on T.V. then would practice the patterns he used to run and school would-be defenders with. And of course, just after crossing the goal line, I’d dance and say, “Touchdown! Kevin House!”

House played with the Buccaneers from 1980-1986 catching (286) passes for (4928) yards and (31) touchdowns. He played his College games at Southern Illinois and was drafted in 1980 by the Bucs in the second round as the (49) pick.

I hope you like articles bringing up past Buccaneers! It’s fun to remember players and present them to younger fans that missed out on their game!
As always, Go Bucs!
